Samarkand Self-Guided Audio Tour: Exploring t...

A trip to Uzbekistan is only complete with a stop in one of the oldest cities in the world, Samarkand, just as it was for travellers along the Silk Road almost 2000 years ago. The breath of the East is felt in Samarkand like nowhere else, and to experience this fully, it is best with a local guide. This audio tour will ensure that you know the history of the city and the destinies of those who lived here on your self-paced journey back in time.  Your journey begins at the Museum of Regional Studies and Local Lore, leading through the city’s historic heart. You will first visit the serene Alisher Navoi Central Park, then stroll along University Boulevard, rich in intellectual legacy. The majestic Gur-i Amir Mausoleum and the breathtaking Registan Square will showcase Timurid grandeur. You will admire the intricate beauty of the Amir Timur Mosque before reaching the ethereal Shahi-Zinda Necropolis, a sacred hillside adorned with turquoise domes. Each site tells a tale of history and artistry, making this route a captivating passage through the soul of the city. Please, note that while the first six sites are within walking distance, the tour ends in the city’s outskirts. You will have to hail a taxi from the street or an app to visit the last four sites: the Observatory of Ulugbek, Afrasiab Museum, Mausoleum of St. Daniel and the Village of Konigil. Please also note that some of the attractions on the route require an entrance fee. Enjoy your tour of Samarkand!
